Lending Club – 9 Months Later

Lending Club – 9 Months Later

9 Months ago I decided to give Lending Club a try to see what it could return for me on money I had sitting idle. This is no way to get rich overnight, but if you have some capital laying around it’s a decent place to put it. On average my return shows between 6-8% I have been relatively satisfied with the results so far. I started with an initial $5000, and moved more capital over to increase my return…

Marrying a Kuwaiti Women as a Non-Kuwaiti Man – K1

Marrying a Kuwaiti Women as a Non-Kuwaiti Man – K1

Back in August of 2015 I had posted about marrying a Kuwaiti women in Kuwait without the consent of her guardian. The posting has been well received and gotten a few comments and a storm of emails over the course of the last year or so. I personally never finished out the process, due to business travel taking priority over a sheet of paper made difficult to obtain by loads of red tape. It seems like every time you make…

PHP to Scrape Instagram Content

PHP to Scrape Instagram Content

I have become fascinated with scraping content off of Instagram mainly for curiosity and helping my wife analyze her competitors pages in terms of hashtags, ranking, and image placement, times posted, etc. I was certain something had been written for this before that was free, but it seems like there are bits and pieces out there in python, php, and a variety of other languages. Not to mention many paid solutions. I stumbled into a piece on github: https://gist.github.com/cosmocatalano/4544576 and…

ScaleTrader DUST and ERX

ScaleTrader DUST and ERX

ScaleTrader has performed very well, however like with all commodities the focus has shifted to oil and energy. DUST had opened and closed 15 short positions with a target of $100 each through its trial run. It net approximately $100 per day with little to no work, but with the shift in gold prices and the ETF itself over the last few days I may need to relook at the range it trades within so that it can remain profitable…

Lending Club

Lending Club

In an effort to diversify investment ideas for growth and returns I have decided to give Lending Club a try. Signing up for an account was really straight forward and easy, funding the account took a few days. I started with $5,000, this makes me eligible for their $50 bonus to invest. I didn’t want to do too much work as I already spend lots of time after work looking at charts for ETF’s so I opted to enable automated…

DUST ScaleTrader Results

DUST ScaleTrader Results

Today I am sharing the results of the ScaleTrader post I made earlier this week. DUST is a relatively volatile stock so it was a good candidate to try it out on. I crossed out two trades in the report that were done manually and were not done by ScaleTrader. These equate to an adjustment of -496.55 off of the total realized P/L, so the actual realized for ScaleTrader alone is 592.94 on DUST. Not bad for two full trading…

Interactive Brokers: ScaleTrader

Interactive Brokers: ScaleTrader

I am a huge fan of automating my stock strategies as it usually means that I won’t have to worry that I keyed in something too slowly on my phone or computer when trading. Or worse I made a mistake when buying or shorting a security like what happened below! On the bright side that mistake cost me less than $5 with commission. So what is ScaleTrader? ScaleTrader is a tool that interactive brokers has to scale into and out…

7/29/16 Options

7/29/16 Options

This week I wanted to continue what a friend showed me with options and try to change up some of my stock trading strategy to include more options which have historically been a loss for me. I am trying a short strangle option on CMG and PCLN. For more reading on the strategy read The Options Guide article here. PCLN – JUL29 1277.5/1372.5, 2.50 CMG – JUL29 417.5/437.5, 1.95 My thoughts on this, PCLN seems like the safest bet as the…

7/15/16 Options

7/15/16 Options

This week I am giving options another try with a different strategy, a naked call. It involves selling a call option without owning the underlying asset. More about it here. Despite the risk the underlying asset is trading far out of the money. Historically I have not had much luck with options, but with some guidance and input of a friend I am giving them a try again. Changing Management IP on Cisco UCS

Changing Management IP on Cisco UCS

I normally stick to servers but in dealing with Cisco UCS Chassis I have found myself in a position to where I have to learn more and more on the network side as the line seems to be getting blurred with some of the devices attached. This is a good thing for me as I can make more gradual steps to learn more. I found myself in a position where I had to change the UCS virtual IP address, here…
